| GB2: SE? Not anytime soon... |
| |
Jack Sturgess of the GB Message Boards
writes in with this little tidbit:
At HomeTheaterForum, tonight they had a representative from
Columbia/TriStar
and I just happened to be online at 10:00 EST when it started.
Well, some bad news about the rumored Ghostbusters II: Collector's
Series that we'd been hearing about. The rep said that nothing
was yet planned for an SE of GB2.
I asked him what the hold up was below...:
---------------------
Q. ...I remember hearing that Columbia/TriStar
was planning to do full blown Collector's Series of "Ghostbusters
II" but that they were waiting to see how the Collector's
Series of the original "Ghostbusters" did before they
got involved in such a project. Considering that the first film
was one of the best-selling DVDs of all-time, what is the hold
up from doing a Collector's Series for "Ghostbusters II"?
A. ...as for GB2, that was never
part of the gameplan. Just another rumor.

No,
it's not a Creed song- Cheryl, the HQ's favorite guest author
decided to make the world's most dramatic monologue between Dan
Aykroyd and Bill Murray. It's a great pick me up, but kids of
younger age take heart, cover those ears- er, shut those eyes,
there's a tad bit of "Creative Foul Language." |

| An interview with THE Ivan
Reitman |
| |
 Okay,
so news is a little slow lately. . . but are you ready
for this. GBHQ's very own NateDog picked up this interview
with Ivan Reitman for the HQ from his school newspaper
The Battalion at Texas A and M. Check
it out here only on the HQ! (I've been trying to upload
this since Thursday, thank goodness Neil was able to work
out the problems with our server- special thanks to the
Forgotten Ghostbuster!) |

| Web programmers... HELP!! |
| |
Hey,
anyone out there care to take a crack at this week's web
programming challenge? Take
a look at the rough design for the new GBHQ using
Netscape Navigator, then look at it using Internet Explorer.
Anyone care to tell me why Netscape
is doing this? (Oh, and for those curious that I know
will click on that link just to get a sneak peak... it's
VERY VERY rough, it won't
even come close to how the HQ will look). |

Check
out Harry Knowles' Aint-It-Cool-News for an incredibly freaky,
but cool homage to Slimer on his top logo. Also, GBHQ's
main man Matt Rude reports that on tonight's episode of
Who Wants to Be A Millionare the question
was asked: "Which of the following was NOT a Ghostbuster?"
The choices were: Peter, Hank, Winston, Ray." Easy
enough, thank goodness it was only worth $200, but some
PRIME GB publicity to say the least. The show brings in
what, 2 to 3 million people a night? |

Ever
notice that the Ecto Goggles were used in Cindy Crawford's
box-office blunder Fair Game? Well, Doc Brown himself
Christopher Lloyd has utilized the science of Dr. Egon
Spengler, using a PKE Meter to track down Hulk Hogan in
Suburban Commando an equal in the "blunder-meter"
film. Thanks to Neil, the Forgotten Ghostbuster, check
out those pics of the PKE relived in the Ghostbusters
area. |

 An interesting question was
posed on the Ghostbusters message board lately. Why wasn't
there ever an animated Ghostbusters movie? Well, there
really wasn't a need for one with the cartoon actually
being based off of a movie. But Doc sends in this cool
fan art that toys with the mind making you wonder- which
was based off of which. Kinda boggles the mind more than
the theory of Atlantis hmmm? Check it out in the Museum!

Okay,
so it's unanimous... the GBHQ2K layout sucks. With inspiration
from Erin and Chad of GB Central, I'm beginning layout
on GBHQ2K: Revisited to hopefully address some of your
complaints. But it won't be around anytime soon. I'm taking
my time on this one- why? Because the kids love us, of
course. Speaking of Chad, seen his interview with the
Bus Boys? Surf the HQ then hop over and give it a looksee. |

| ign.com nods to Ghostbusters
DVD |

GBHQ minion
Nick Maturo sends in his find on ign.com:
www.ign.com recently did a run-down
of the top 25 DVDs of recent memory (located
at http://dvd.ign.com/news/17691.html). Well, Ghosbusters was praised, winding up
in the #2 position, just behind The Matrix. Thought
you'd like to know. I guess that shows that there's
still a market for our old GBs...
Thanks Nick!

| Ghostbusters, it'll get you
suspended |
| |
This one comes
from the just plain funny files courtesy of Goat XGB and
the Providence Journal (www.projo.com):
SOUTH KINGSTOWN -- Four high school juniors who deviated
from the script of a school skit -- one wore a Madonna-style
bra and another doused parents with a huge squirt gun
-- have been barred from after-school activities for three
months.
...fourth student, who carried a small plastic squirt
gun on Friday, appeared in Saturday's show wielding a
big, high-powered squirt gun -- and turned it on the crowd
of seniors, parents and school staff. Playing Slimer,
a character from the comedy film, Ghostbusters, the student
``showered the first four rows'' of the audience with
water, said School Supt. Jack Harrington."

 Looking at those "ultra-rare"
score albums of Ghostbusters on eBay and at those Star Trekkie conventions? Be warned, they ain't as real as the RGBs. Though
a cool score of a Ghosthead find, chances are that the CD
you're forking $60+ for is nothing more than a 99¢
CDR with a glossy package (if the creator even went as far
to do that). Most people selling them are unaware that they're
selling fakes, others are just nutcases in from off the
streets- so don't go off calling them frauds (Louis
Tully would argue that it's not fair) but rather
ask if you can bargain the price down to something more
reasonable. That is, unless you're willing to crank out
sixty, then have at it. The Netmeister has an ultra-cool
way of detecting to see if your copy is a fake or if it's
the real McCoy (dammit Jim!) if you own a copy or are thinking
about buying a copy, drop me an email
and I'll share it with you. Otherwise, I'm not posting
it here to keep the honest people honest. 'nuff said. |

 Sure, he's been spotted during
a TV spot on the Oscars, but People Magazine's photographers
(paparazzi?) have scored another photo of the Big A walking
his daughter (whom the HQ has chosen to eliminate from the
photo, hey would you want your picture on the 'net?) home
from school. Getting fresh air from writing that final edit
for the Ghostbusters 3 script? Or possibly just getting
fresh air and a little excercise? I'll let you decide. |

| Why Fox gave RGB the can... |
| |
Just
a real quick update for the time being, more to come later
today (it's been a whirlwind weekend) but Neil Vitale, the
Forgotten Ghostbuster has this to tell the HQ about Fox
Family's reason behind cancelling the run of Real Ghostbusters,
"Basically they have to re-edit
each individual episode in order to air it with the correct
amount of commercials for 1999/2000 standards, it ended
up being too expensive and time consuming for them to edit
the episodes, this is the same reason that a lot of classic
80s cartoon shows like Silverhawks have shorter runs on
Cartoon Network and are only aired once or twice a week,
it's hard work." |

Eric (aka Egon) GBHQ's main
man from Starfleet sends in this little tidbit of trivia:
While spending all day on the internet I came upon a
Star Trek site
(http://www.trekdoc.com/trivia.htm)when
I read that in the Star Trek: The
Next Generation episode "Relics" the Aldebran
Whiskey (whatever that is) was
actually Hi-C Ecto Cooler.
