AN INTERVIEW WITH
SLIMER!
UPDATE: She even has a website- check it out at http://members.aol.com/DoReEgon/navlyt.html
Q= Dr. Stantz (Brandon)
A= Robin Navlyt,
Slimer- Ghostbusters II
Q: When did this job come upon
you?
A: My agent in Northern California
called me and asked me if I would go and interview at ILM for
a role in "Ghostbusters II" Needless to say, I was
very excited about ILM and also the possibility of working on
a sequel to such a well known and loved movie. When I was called
and got the role of "Slimer" it was estatic!
Q: What was your most difficult
task?
A: I would say getting used to the
costume and working with the puppeteers who controlled some of
the facial movements. The weight of the costume was something
of a challenge as well. But everyone there was always watching
out for me and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible.
Q: What were your relationships
with the other cast members like?
A The only cast member I met and
spoke with was Bill Murray. Who was as sweet and crazy as he
is funny. All the special effects shots that slimer was put into
was already done for the most part. So we would watch the footage
that was already shot (minus slimer) and then film it in front
of a big blue screen.
Q: Where you a fan of "Ghostbusters"
before you got this role?
A: Yes. Like most people, I definitely
loved the movie and was completely thrilled to be a part of the
sequel. How can you not love that movie and be a fan??? :o)
Q: What's it like being a "cultural
icon"? :o)
A: That's very sweet! I think Slimer
is a cultural icon, and I just happen to be one of many people
who were responsible for bringing it to life. I still am very
much in awe of the gifted and talented people I met on that film.
I have some pretty cool things to tell my children and grandchildren
someday, huh??
