Ghostbusters costume triggers airport security

Be careful where you take you're gear for your next bust, you could have airport security and bomb sniffing dogs dragging you off an airplane just as 28 year old Eric Valleca (is that one of our frequent visitors out there?) was taken off his United Airlines flight because his bag contained PVC pipes, radios and batteries with car battery caps attached to them that made them believe the bag contained a bomb.
"Officials had discussed blowing up the case, but decided against it, Velleca said. He added officials had briefly considered pressing charges against him, but said they were polite and professional throughout ordeal.
Velleca, who was able to catch a later flight to Chicago with his costume props, said of them: 'It wasn't my idea. I don't even really like the Ghostbusters.'"

"Sony has approved a plot submission from Sholly Fisch. It deals with some urban-legends coming to life, and the GBs having to go up against the force responsible. The current working title of the book is GHOSTBUSTERS: URBAN LEGENDS, though I've been told that is DEFINATELY going to change to something less corny."

In an effort to make the HQ not quite so dusty and to keep it from smelling like my grandparents' attic, we're opening up the ability to post news to the main site to two lucky writers out there.
Think you have what it takes to post news tidbits here on GBHQ? It's not glamourous and it won't get you on the cover of People magazine but just knowing that you're out there touching the hearts and minds of thousands, nay, millions... or- okay, hundreds of Ghostheads around this world should keep a smile on your face.
Still interested? Submit a writing sample finishing the sentence "Dan Aykroyd announced today..." to netsolo@aol.com no later than midnight November 7th (that gives you procrastinators like me two weeks) that is no longer than 200 words to be considered.
Winners will be announced, sworn in, tarred, feathered, and placed on display November 8th (that's a Saturday for the working crowd).

Ivan Reitman's remake of the Pink Panther might have just finally gotten the announcement that it needs to finally put it on the fast track to production, according to Variety and E Online Steve Martin is in talks to play the character originally given to life by Peter Sellers.

Paul Rudoff of the ever-cool content packed Spook Central sends this in:
"Thanks for mentioning Spook Central on your site. I thought I'd let you know, especially you Troy since you're a Mac user, that Spook Central is now (I hope) Macintosh compatible.
I've had to use a new navigational menu, but the person who has been helping me, has tested it out in Safari and IE on the Mac and it worked. Now that I've implemented it into the site, I hope that it *still* works."

Reitman part of Governor's transition team

California Governor-elect Arnold Schwartzenegger on Thursday appointed Ivan Reitman as the sole representative from the entertainment industry to his 65-member transition team.
Reitman, who produced "Kindergarten Cop" and "Twins," both films in which Schwartzenegger starred, held a fund-raiser for Schwartzenegger in Santa Barbara durin the recall campaign and has been friends with Schwartzenegger since collaborating on the films.
"In my campaign, I said that I would reach across the political aisle and bring the best and brightest people together to help us solve the problems facing California," Schwartzenegger said in a statement. "The transition committee I am announcing... is a distinguished group of men and women who share my commitment to restoring California to greatness."
It was unclear in what specific capacity Reitman would serve. Messages left for Reitman at his Montecito Pictures' office were not immediately returned.
GBHQ:RD 3: Judgement Day

Well as some of you may or may not know, the ol' RD was the target of a hacker last night and everything was lost, messages, users, you name it. So those that frequented the board will need to reregister their user names.
A new backup system is in place so that next time this happens, we should be able to run the backup and this won't be a problem again.

Well the rumors had been buzzing around on the message boards, but it's official Steve Kurth is the new official penciler on the 88MPH Studios Ghostbusters comic.
From the 88 official site: "88MPH Studios is pleased to announce that Steve Kurth will be the new Ghosbusters penciler. Steve is an extremely talented artist who has previously worked on G.I. Joe and Micronauts for Devil's Due."
