March 2003Nuart midnight screening reactions! Look at that time, whew... can't believe I'm posting at this hour but hey, I'm a devoted webmaster, eh? The Nuart screening was great, a seriously excellent turn out (though at 280 some strong we didn't set a record but were chastized by the fire marshall). All in all it was a great time, I have pictures (I was yelled at by the Movie Geek trying to get you guys the most amount of pictures if that's worth anything) and a full report to come a bit later when I have time to sit down and sift through them all. Thanks to all who attended, if you were there, email me with your pictures and stories. Especially the three devoted Ghostheads out there that were in costume- I got a picture of you guys and your favorite Netmeister who was playing it incognito tonight, thanks guys! Count: 55675 Nuart 35mm print of Ghostbusters screens tonight! Those of you in the Los Angeles/ Hollywood area you'll be missing out if you're not at the Nuart Theater off of Santa Monica Blvd. and the 405 tonight at midnight! One time opportunities tend to not happen again so be there, the Netmeister and his posse will see you there! Ecto, say it isn't so... oh wait, whew... Ant sends in this cool Photoshop doctored image of one of the old Ambulances sitting in a junkyard at http://www.worth1000.com/view.asp?entry=36080&display=photoshop, guess that this shows what could happen to the Ecto if it's not properly maintained! Real life PKE Meter on eBay? Check out this eBay auction for a cell phone radiation detector which claims that people use it to detect poltergeists and ghosts (Just like Ghostbusters!). Interesting! GBHQ problem status... Multimedia libraries are still down... sorry for the trouble but they'll be up again soon I promise. In the meantime, if there's a page that you're looking for that comes up "File not Found 404" take out the .php from the end of the address and change it to .html and you'll see what you're looking for! Nuart screening info... Well I attended the Goonies screening last night just to see how things are run and well, to see Goonies on the big screen again and I have great news for LA area Ghostheads, this is going to be quite an event. $9.50 buys you admission to the flick which is worth the price alone. A short introduction to the flick from the "Movie Geek" from Beat the Geeks as well as a prize drawing which your admission ticket acts as your entry. At Goonies they gave away Baby Ruth candy bars and "Goonies Dance Party" CDs. I can't wait to see what they do for GB. Last night they also showed the original theatrical teaser trailer for Ghostbusters which was met to wild cheering and applause. It's definitely going to be an enthusiastic crowd. Also of note, last night set a "new midnight screening record" for the theater with 381 in attendance. Let's show up those Goonies Ghostheads, bring a friend, bring a neighbor. We'll see you there midnight, the Nuart Theater off of Santa Monica Blvd. $9.50 Friday, March 28th! GB reference on War Coverage Beau over on the Ghostbusters.net boards points out this tidbit that he heard while watching ABC News coverage of the war in Iraq: "Ted Koppel was in the war field, relaying information to Peter Jennings. During this conversation, Ted Koppel talks about how certain machines work, and he mentions that they place their personal duffel bags in a certain location just in case 'they get slimed...and I'm not referring to Ghostbusters.'" Your GB 2 minute warning... Okay, so not exactly two minutes, more like one week. If you're planning on seeing the brand spankin' new print of Ghostbusters over at the Nuart Theater, keep in mind that it's next Friday (the 28th) at Midnight! The Netmeister will be there (and for the screening of Goonies tomorrow night). Hope to see some of you all there too! Evolution: Continues... We know that Ghostbusters III might not be looking too hopeful but Evolution stands poised to start a franchise. Dark Horizons is reporting that the sequel "Evolution: Continues" is in the development stages over at Dreamworks. Also of note, Variety reported last week that Men in Black III has begun pre-production using a concept suggested by Will Smith. Don't all Ghostheads sigh at once now... Email that doesn't taste like SPAM... This is your last reminder (since I'm in the reminding mood the past 48 hours), head over to The Interdimensional Crossrip Email List and sign yourself up for the GBHQ newsletter. They're going to start shipping next week and if your name isn't on the list then you're not getting in, pal! So what are you waiting for? C'mon... it's fun. Dan Aykroyd's "Unconditional Love" Whatever happened to the project that Dan Aykroyd was filming with Kathy Bates called "Unconditional Love" (Previously known as "Who Shot Victor Fox?") last year you might ask? I was asking myself the same question, it was supposed to be released over two years ago from New Line cinema. Well, news has broken-- the film is coming straight to video this summer. The film also stars Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett, and Julie Andrews. The poor film has been plagued with problems and it's nice to see that it's finally going to see the light of day. Nuart Screening Reminder... Consider this your two minute warning (well, okay-- I guess I'll remind you Ghostheads a bit further down the road too) but Los Angeles/Hollywood/Road Rebel Ghostheads take note: March 28th, midnight at the Nuart Theater in Los Angeles (off Santa Monica) will be the unveiling of the brand spankin' new print of Ghostbusters. If you're not there, you better have an excuse like your grandmother is sick and dying (our apologies to those of you whose grandma is sick and/or dying). See you there! GB on TBS: Just another excuse for... Bad puns and plays on the word "Ghost" in Ghostbusters... really, I was actually shooting on set and we had the TV on so I got to see bits and pieces (I still embrace my Monday Night Movie ABC version of Ghostbusters and all the odd edits and eccentricities) but the parts of the "Dinner and a Movie" footage that I saw really just looked lame, as usual, to me. It's cool that they're bringing Ghostbusters into the TBS line-up and for this, I have absolutely no complaints-- but Dinner and a Movie just continues to be very unfunny and distracting from the film. At least they used to have guest stars on to talk about the film (as seen in the so-called second helping with "Mars Attacks" which I caught bits and pieces of during our dinner break). But Ghostbusters had no such luck. As Yoda would say, "Always getting the shaft we are." Anyway, enough of my rants, Mr. Back has actually encoded the bad boy for your downloading pleasure here. Take a look, and if you have still yet to see the TV edit of the film, you owe it to yourself to see how network TV can change so many little things... and oddly enough, the TV version of the film was the version I grew up with. I never discovered the actual version of the film until high school (when I actually understood a lot of the toungue in cheek jokes). Recipe for some good cookin' Here's a link to the TBS Dinner and a Movie Recipe for I Ain't Afraid of No Roast. Just a remind that the Dinner and a Movie airs, tonight! Set those recorders, set those capture cards, and enjoy! |
