NECA provides again, here's a look at Dana Barrett in her finer moments:

Next week there's promise of pictures of Gozer. Man, is it a good time for Ghostheads or what? If this would have hit circa Extreme Ghostbusters, one could have said a revival was at hand.

Okay, so... the toy's a dog...

It's come to my attention that a lot of new folks are hitting the HQ and scratching their head and asking what in the Wide Wide World of Sports is going on here. There's an ultra quick way for you to get up to speed and all you've gotta do is type a few keys.

Head down to the bottom of this page and check out the NEWS SEARCH. See it? Well, if you're reading this- ya don't see it, so try to keep up with me here.

Here are some key words to type in and instantly you'll have everything you wanted to know (and more) about all the new swag, comics, and novels coming out in the Ghostbusters universe: "88MPH" "NECA" "IBOOKS" "ERTL" Those key words will bring up all the news that's fit to print and take you on a little trip down memory lane! We're working on getting the websites for all of the above mentioned goods updated but in the meantime, this works awesome.

Where we gonna get those wonderful toys?

Randy a goodfella over at NECA Toys has been making the rounds on the GB fan sites hyping up the first wave of figures and also stopped by the Movie Maniacs website with some preview images and information. Check out that coolness here.

There is promise that Tomarts Issue 119 and the new Previews will have more information but here's the breakdown:

They're still securing likeness rights for the actors in the film to do the four boys in grey as the second wave. Should that fall through, they might go with the designs for the 88MPH comic.

"The figures are basically 7" scale. This is a vague term but let's say they would fit in with our Hellraiser size figures. Gozer stands about 6 3/4"
The Terror Dogs (with light up eyes are big - very big) and Slimer is about 3"-3 1/2" and comes with a base he can be displayed on or off and an assortment of food and drink."

"Stay Puft stands about 15" tall - our original specs called for 18" but when we created the prototpye and saw how BIG he is in proportion legs, arms, torso 18" was too big especially since we are trying to keep the cost for Stay Puft under $20. When you see him displayed with the rest of the figures you will be pleased for Puft Daddy is a BIG toy and looks awesome."

Thanks be to Fritz for the scoop.

I've been explaining the recent lull in posts on the boards as being "The calm before the storm that is February 11th." This has prompted quite a few of you to say to me "What's happening on February 11th?" Well for those of you living under a rock. February 11th is when 88mph Studios Officially Releases the Ghostbusters Comic. There, Now you know, And knowing is half the battle.

Academy Award Nominee Pete Venkman...

Following his Golden Globe win this weekend, Bill Murray rounds things off this mornign with a solid gold Oscar nomination and Lost in Translation gets a nod for the Best Picture category. Kind of fitting that Sigourney Weaver was the one announcing the nominees, eh?

Competing against Murray are Sean penn for Mystic River, Johnny Depp (!) for Pirates of the Carribean, Ben Kingsley for House of Sand and Fog, and Jude Law for the embarrassingly boring and tedious Cold Mountain (even with Natalie Portman in it for five minutes).

BREAKING: Bill Murray wins Golden Globe
Busted Monday, January 26, 2004, 11:47 AM by Netsolo

Bill Murray won a Golden Globe yesterday evening for his role in Sofia Coppola's "Lost in Translation" (which I continue to highly recommend if you have the means). On stage, he thanked Sofia for writing a role for him that he knows a lot of the people in the audience were saying, "That son of a bitch; that could have been me."

Thought I mentioned this one too...

David Letterman's Top Ten list recently featured a Ghostbusters mention that I've been meaning to post here for a couple weeks now... I know, I'm an idiot:

Top Ten Things I'd Like To Get Off My Chest Now That I'm in the Baseball Hall of Fame, as presented by Paul Molitor and Dennis Eckersley on Late Show with Dave Letterman on Wednesday:

IBOOKS novel questions answered...
Busted Thursday, January 22, 2004, 12:05 PM by Netsolo

Steve Roman, the editor-in-chief on Sholly Fisch's upcoming "Ghostbusters: Urban Legends" (man, I'm still not a big fan of that subtitle) novel chimed in recently with Ghostheads to answer some of their nagging questions about the novel due in stores this May. Here are some highlights:

The IBOOKS license covers only Ghostbusters 1 and 2, therefore there will be no references to the cartoon or the 88MPH comic series. The license also allows for three books, but depending on sales of the first book "we might not make it to book two," so make sure you get out there and buy multiple copies if you have to.

Despite the hefty 11 buck price tag for a paperback novel, Steve promises that they will make sure it is well worth the scratch you have to put down for it. He also promises they won't do anything to "P.O." the licensor or the fans. Guess that means they won't kill Chewie? Oh wait.

The novels WILL be available at every major bookseller, possibly even Wal Mart (and all of its incarnations probably).

Slimer is in the book... "in some capacity."

The books supposedly take place 5 years after GB2, but the plan is that (much like Superman) the boys in grey will perpetually never age. Suddenly I hear a loud sigh of relief from Bill Murray somewhere.

Thanks to Fritz for the wrap up- stay tuned for more.

Here's something off the request lines from Liberty Island...

Hey Ghostheads, Fanboy here chiming in with this little piece of somewhat GB related news. Since September 11th,the Statue of Liberty has been closed to the public due to security concerns. As you all know, the statue was featured in Ghostbusters 2 in 1989.A number of improvements, such as upgrading fire and emergency notification systems, creating additional exits from the Statue's base and, enhancing visitor safety measures throughout the Statue. "How can I help?" you ask? Well, a fund to reopen the Statue has been set up, and you can donate! For more information, head over to the following link:

An interview with 88 writer Andrew Dabb
Busted Thursday, January 15, 2004, 1:02 PM by Netsolo

UGO.com, pretty big name place, has a brand spankin' new interview with Ghostbusters comic writer Andrew Dabb. Some of the highlights (besides the fact that there are actual pencilled pages on display):

Dabb chastizing people for not seeing the original film but yet saying the comic will still be accessible to those poor schmucks that haven't.

Ray is his favorite character to write.

Kurth's drawings definitely help to enhance the dialogue and the action scenes (including the reason why the series is subtitled "Legion") will blow you away.

For the full scoop, head on over to the interview. And take a look at those pencilled pages (drooling, I'll stop).

Blues Brothers expose Spiked!
Busted Tuesday, January 13, 2004, 1:12 PM by Netsolo

All-men net SpikeTV is set to air a Blues Brothers "Unseen and Untold" feature (much as they did for Animal House) at 9pm EST on January 21st. The show will include "recently unearthed deleted scenes" (which aren't new to anyone who has had a DVD player and the DVD released almost four years ago), rare concert footage, and interviews. Sounds interesting, plus I bet SlamBall will be on afterwards.

New Ghostbusters toys get some more press?
Busted Saturday, January 10, 2004, 3:00 PM by Netsolo

Apparently in the new issue of Tomarts there are photographs of not one, not two, but three of the upcoming Ghostbusters toys from NECA. But a quick trip to my local Barnes and Noble came up empty handed as I learned they no longer carry Tomart's Action Figure Guide (!?). Anyone out there in TV land have access to this and want to scan it in?

Dabb speaks about the Ghostbusters comic!

Brian Reilly turns this scoop in:

- While I am in love with the pages Kurth has been sending in for Ghostbusters, Gabe Bridwell's Tron sequentials are giving them a run for their money. But, Gabe doesn't send as many drunken e-mails, so Steve is still in the lead.

 - The sales for Ghostbusters and Tron won't burn up the charts, but they will get more good reviews than bad, and the latter will do well enough to earn a monthly.

 - When someone from ILM e-mails you saying how much he and others working there are looking forward to GB and Tron, responding with "Even Jar Jar?" is not a great idea, no matter how funny it sounded in your head.

 - After Ghostbusters #3 comes out (or possibly as soon as the Previews listing it becomes available), I will get at least five pieces of hate mail.

 - Page eight of Ghostbusters #1 shall henceforth be known as "the Janine fetish page".

 - And finally, my 2004 will be made or ruined its second week. In the next seven days I will hear back about two jobs I desperately want, as well as get pre-order numbers for Ghostbusters and Tron #1 which will determine the future of those books. Cross your fingers for me.

Sholly Fisch on the new Ghostbusters novel
Busted Tuesday, January 6, 2004, 2:32 PM by Netsolo

Osborn chimes in with this quote from author Sholly Fisch on the new Ghostbusters novel coming out quite soon:

"I'm spending the wee hours slaving away at an all-new GHOSTBUSTERS prose novel called URBAN LEGENDS. ibooks is planning to publish the novel in 2004, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the original movie. Pretty much all of the old movie characters are back, and they still ain't 'fraid of no ghosts. Lots of thrills, chills, and all-out-hoo-hah action as the Ghostbusters battle an ancient fear demon and a whole mess of urban legends come to life. But this time, the biggest question isn't how they'll save mankind. It's whether Bill Murray's character, Venkman, can carry the election to become mayor of New York City. (Hey, you think it can't happen? A guy named Schwarzenegger might disagree)."
