January 2003Brian Doyle Murray on Ghostbusters 3 This comes from Garth over at the good Dark Horizons: "Brian Doyle Murray (brother of Bill Murray) about his golf-themed restaurant and he confirmed a third film in the 80's comedy series is on the way: "Okay, the second one sucked. This one is going to be good. It's Chevy, Rodney, Louie Anderson, Michael O'Keefe and myself. It should be a lot of fun. We're even trying to get Bill to do a short appearance in it as Spackler". Murray also confirmed that whilst no other "Ghostbusters" films are in the works, a "Snow Dogs" sequel is and "I'll be reprising my role of this crazy chap named Ernie. Should be a lot of fun". Where does one find a damn five iron when you feel the need to hit someone. " Good on ya, Garth. Seriously cool art! Well this is just too cool to pass up posting, head on over to this article on GBN to see a group shot of the Ghostbusters in comic/animation style. How cool is that? We'd like to hear your comments, send email to netsolo@aol.com with your thoughts and they'll be posted here on the HQ! Mutant Reviewers from Hell do Ghostbusters In one of the more amusing reviews that I've ever read of the classic flick, the Mutant Reviewers from Hell take a look at Ghostbusters and remember childhood memories of wearing old Ghostbusters t-shirts and being forbidden to see the film because of his parents worrying about satanic messages. Take a look, it's a great little review! For those of you model perfectionists... Not quite happy with the decals that come with the new Ecto-1 Polar Lights model kit? Not to worry, over at the X-Factor Productions, these guys have got you taken care of. http://www.culttvman.com/ecto_decals.html has a set of ten dollar decals that will help you detail your new model to a perfect T. Now if only it came with a parking ticket to put on the windshield wiper from one of the deleted scenes... Fan films... It's time. Well we're finally rounding the corner of GBHQ being completely rennovated (good thing too because I'm getting tired of this scaffolding and bum repairmen always asking me to bum a smoke) and the next project to tackle is the fan film section... which means one thing: we need your fan films now. Encode those puppies (including the trailers and sample scenes) preferably in QuickTime .mov or .mpg format and drop them in the mail to NetSolo@aol.com. We need those submissions pretty quick here so that we can get started on individual pages for each film so send them pronto, stat, right now, in between viewings of GBN, after the rerun of the Golden Girls, NOW! Broken link reminder... I'm still slowly chugging away at getting all of the pages converted over to the new format so there are a lot of broken links (especially over in the media section). If there's something that you're looking for and it comes up a broken link, delete the .php from the address and enter .html and that will take you to the old design page or email me and I'll send you a direct link. Thanks for continuing to be patient with me, Ghostheads! GBII Score Update... Of interest, if you listen to the tracks closely it's not the isolated soundtrack, it includes all of the foley work and if you listen EVEN closer on a pair of headphones, you can hear the dialogue. It's equalized from the movie so it's not an official cut of the soundtrack- but still a very cool project and a lot of work, definitely worth a listen. The GBII score! Next thing you know, dinosaurs will be cloned! Wow, I said I'd believe it when I saw it and I'm seeing it right in front of me (although missing seven tracks) is the Ghostbusters II Score! Way to go Matteo, what a find! Head on over to ghostbusters.it to download at http://www.ghostbusters.it/gb2/themovie.htm (for those of you who don't speak Italian, click on each part and then look for the links called "Score"). Crank up some GB at a wedding ceremony! Head on over to http://www.epinions.com/content_22699675268: the eOpinions website for a very interesting track by track review of the original Ghostbusters soundtrack. I especially enjoy the statement that "already my ten-year old is enabled with this movie and others from that time period." Sorry folks... After speaking with Mr. Chad Paulson, I've decided I will no longer be covering anything related to the "Red Ketchup- It's Coming" story until a point where I see fit, until there is a name behind the "faces" in this current situation. My apologies to those news hounds visiting the site for up to date info. If you're gonna IRC, IRC into this... Check it out ladies and gents... the #realghostbusters channel that was previously housed on Dalnet has been moved over to irc.autobotnation.com for better stability (let alone the fact that we can actually sign onto this server). Stop on in with your IRC client and see what's cookin' on the old episode farm! We might even let you sleep in the same room as Brorjace's hot cousin! New Print Screening UPDATE! Grab those calendars and set aside a couple bucks: March 28 is the date when you can see a brand spankin' new print of Ghostbusters over at the Nuart Theater Info Here. Showtimes, ticket prices, and special event info to come later folks. Thanks be to the big man Mr. Livolsi for the scoop. Holy newly struck print, Batman! GBHQ has just learned that you LA residents are in for a real treat. Sony/Columbia Tri-Star Pictures has struck a brand new print of Ghostbusters from the original negative to be screened in February at the Nuart Theater (West Beverly). More information will be posted here as it becomes available but you can bet that the Netmeister will be in attendance! Who's house? Run's house... Martin... Martin... For those of you who haven't seen the posts over on the boards, in the Martin Lawrence vehicle National Securtiy, the ever popular LA firehouse interiors (also seen in such Troy McClure films as "The Princess Diaries" and "The Mask") are a prominently featured set. More to come when pictures are available of said film, which is currently riding high at number two at the box office behind (gasp) Kangaroo Jack? Someone call Letterman... his much insulted film is number one? Is this the calm before the storm? It's just quiet (Yeah, a little too quiet)... is this the calm before the storm? Are all Ghostheads out there holding their breath in anticipation of a "Red Ketchup" announcement (which more and more people seem to have faith in the fact that it's a new comic?). The HQ is still patiently and readily standing by, keep checking back. Bill Murray invades Comedy Central on Sunday Those of you with cable or dish access to Comedy Central will be crazy to miss this sunday's line up. Beginning with a great SNL episode in the Farley, Myers, Carvey era, then three back to back episodes of the Sweet Spot, then one of the funniest SNLs to star the most recent cast (which the HQ has tons of media and a summary on here.). Then at 1:30, Ghostbusters II, followed by Rushmore then Scrooged. Wow, what a day! All the fun begins at 8am (Eastern Standard Time). Check it out! For a full line up over on Comedy Central's website, hit up the full programming guide and search for Murray (I'd post a link here but there's no direct link to it yet). The Clock is ticking dude... Still no word over on GBN and the Red Ketchup announcement. GBHQ is still ready to help break the news as soon as it hits. Please be patient, as soon as I know something that I can post I will post it here (in other words, no more emails wanting inside scoops that I don't have, cool?). Over-analyzing "That" Despite the fact that I thought it was hillarious, Harold Ramis' "Analyze That" continues to get the blunt of poor criticism, this time it gets the "award" for one of the worst trailers of 2002. Movie Poop Shoot's article rips on everything from the fact to the lack of funny material in the trailer to the "poor chemistry between DeNiro and Crystal." Seriously... I thought the film was great! But will that persuade the Poop Shoot reviewer? Not likely. Reminder... If you were a previous subscriber to the Interdimensional Crossrip (or you weren't but you want to be) you must resubscribe using the form over in the Fan Club area. Do it! You get three different TV Guides, why not get a publication that you actually read? SPECIAL Special Edition DVD in works? In a further update on the Red Ketchup Affair (which I'm really sticking to the name on since, hey CNN does those kinds of things why can't the ol' HQ?), the one called "Red" elludes to the possibilty of a new DVD of the first film with an isolated music score and a Dan Aykroyd recorded commentary track. While these are two things that Ghostheads have salivated over since the initial release of the disc back five years back, those two things were unavailable due to licensing rights and scheduling conflicts respectively. You'll recall the problems that CTHV had attempting to get the rights to the Ray Parker Jr. music video (so much trouble, in fact, that it stirred back up more legal rights between Ray Parker Jr. and Hewy Lewis). Have these legal issues been worked out? Has Dan Aykroyd found time to sit down in a Hollywood DVD production house and record a commentary? Will MC Hammer eat Corey Feldman in the next episode of the Surreal Life? Let's hope that Red Ketchup answers all of these questions and the mystery behind the burning sensation in my best friend's foot next week. Stay tuned. Fallon tells us what makes him feel good... In an actually funny and well-written episode (and those are few and far between lately I tell you- and what was the deal with Avril Lavigne's voice?) of Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon once again proves his love for Ghostbusters. While doing an inner monologue about how it's an honor to be nominated for a Grammy and how he'll shove it in the face of his old high school friend that used to make fun of his party mix tapes, it is revealed that his old friend is in the audience and has an inner monologue about how ridiculous it is for one person to put "Ghostbusters" on a party tape twice. Cut back to Jimmy who continues his monologue about winning the Emmy... "When I win, I know who I'm gonna call: GHOSTBUSTERS! Yeah, bustin' makes me feel good! I am so on fire!" A great Ghostbusters mention, if anyone happened to get it on tape, send me a capture to post! Shannon Muir on Life and Ketchup Something GBHQ is going to work on is keeping you up to date on Ghostbusters cast/crew's latest projects and ventures. We begin with Shannon Muir. As many of you know, Shannon Muir (Production Supervisor, Extreme Ghostbusters) has been a long-time friend and contributor to Ghostbusters HQ (see her interviews and tidbits over in the Extreme Ghostbusters area). Shannon's been extremely busy (pun not quite intended) with a new article over at www.digitalmediafx.com where she discusses the animation profession. Check out her interview with Monique Beatty, assosciate producer of Extreme Ghostbusters, it's a very interesting read (though not EGB heavy). She also posts her comments and tidbits on the animation industry over at www.animatedinsights.com and promises much more industry related material is on the way. Shannon's also helped co-create an online comic in the vein of Batman and the Avengers called Flying Glory. And frequently writes Battle Bot fan fiction over at www.sabledrake.com. She also was a part of the INVADER ZIM production crew last year. More importantly (and as I'm sure all of you are wondering since it seems to be on everyone's minds), I had the opportunity to sit down with Shannon and discuss the buzz surrounding the Red Ketchup Affair (as previously mentioned here on the HQ), Shannon had some very interesting comments: Shannon: "A comic being licensed seems very likely, movie tie-ins are popular again and studios are wanting to revisit 80s properties. Look at recently launched THUNDERCATS and ROBOTECH comics. GHOSTBUSTERS would be right up that alley." Many thanks to Shannon for taking time with the HQ again and for catching us all up on her forthcoming projects and for her comments. More on the "BIG" coming project in the Red Ketchup Affair... It seems that Red is using Ghostbusters.net as his outlet for the forthcoming project goodies. Take a look at the most recent article at http://www.ghostbusters.net/article/67/. Of highlight that this project will apparently be appealing to an older demographic, which for us die-hard fans is good news, but for the marketing strategy as a whole it's bad news. That G-rated demographic accounts for major dollar signs (look at the success of G-PG rated films compared to R-rated films... we'll wait while you check me on that one.) Also of note that it sounds like a merchandising bonanza which is definitely a good sign for us collectors. Oh, and did I mention the excellent artwork in the article of Peter? Might want to check it out just for that. http://www.ghostbusters.net/article/67/, check it out. GBHQ will work hard to keep you up to speed and muck and grind for other info not available elsewhere. We were there for Extreme Ghostbusters providing first-hand coverage, broke many video segments with Dan talking about GB3 back in it's hey-day and we're sure not going to let you down on this one... Want some crunchy email in that SPAM ridden box? If you'd like to subscribe to the Interdimensional Crossrip newsletter, now is your chance (and PREVIOUS SUBSCRIBERS MUST RESUBSCRIBE as we purged the list for the redesign) head on over to the Email Crossrip Area and throw in your email address. It takes all of ten seconds so as Arnold would say, "Do et!!! Do et nooooow!" Mr. Scott! Damage Report! Well, his Netness is still chugging away at the ol' iBook doing the monkey work of copying and pasting old HTML into the new site design. I'm proud to say that the following areas are now open and (should be) broken link free. Check them out, let me know if you find any broken links or stray HTML code messing things up: Fan Art Museum, Behind the Ecto, Columns, Crossrip Live, Egon's Workshop, Extreme Ghostbusters Episode Guide, Fan Filmmakers Section, Ghostbusters Location Photos, Ghostbusters Homepage Tribute, Fan Costuming Section, Hook and Ladder No. 8 Tour. That's it for now, I promise all those broken links (especially in the GBHQ Media section) will be fixed as soon as my little hands can get to it! Broken links reminder... As previously mentioned, due to the redesign I have a lot of links that I'm still working on bringing up. If there's a section of the site you're trying to access and it says it isn't there, be patient with me- I'm working on it. If you're absolutely desperate to see/download something, email me and I'll send you a temporary working link. Ghostbusters "Prey"? In Michael Crichton's new book "Prey" the character of Eric seems to have a lot of influence from a little 1984 movie that we all know and love. He talks about the "men coming in with vacuums and sucking up the ghosts" and later says that his baby sister "slimed" his MP3 player. All in all, a good read- and makes a Ghosthead smile as if we're in on something that others aren't. Lynch on Ghostbusters 3 Those of you Kevin Smith fans who actively take part in his online realm are no strangers to Bryan Lynch and his hillarious sense of humor and attitudes towards just about everything from Angry Naked people to Movie Sequels. Which is why it's no surprise that Lynch and his fine sense of taste mention a new Ghostbusters sequel in his October "Hook Yer Pooter" column. Kids, you might want to ask the mom and pop before hitting that link, Movie Poop Shoot isn't for the timid or easily offended. "To pay me back, make sequels to movies I actually WANT TO SEE. None of this TOMB RAIDER II garbage, or SCARY MOVIE III bullcrap, I want that second chapter of STRANGE BREW to be made, I want a follow-up to the aforementioned DICK, I want Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves to stop joking about a BILL AND TED III and actually do it, and I want a new HIGHLANDER, dammit. And by HIGHLANDER I mean GHOSTBUSTERS." The Ketchup, er... plot thickens... Over in the continuing saga becoming known as the "Red Ketchup Affair" (I see a Richard Gere movie in the future?) "Red" has announced at least something concrete- the comic company known as Dreamwave (the new Transformers series) is not involved. He then continues to state that he can neither confirm or deny that the new project is a comic book. Blade indeed was correct in saying, "Oooooh, the suspense is killing me!" Johnny 5 Dioramas are ALIVE! Speculation surrounding a new Johnny Lightning (the makers of the Frightening Lightning Ecto-1A vehicles) Ghostbusters related diorama have been circulating the message boards, GBHQ has been able to confirm through a collectable toy store source that indeed a set including two vehicles will be released Christmas 2003 and retailers are able to make pre-orders for their inventory starting this Spring. More to come on this as Playing Mantis releases more info, stay tuned Ghostheads. Are we back? Yes, we're back. Wow, can you believe this? It's like moving into a new home, you can smell the fresh paint, don't want to step on the carpet with your shoes, and certainly won't allow anyone to drink grape juice around anything. Isn't this great? A few notes, while we're getting on our feet there are going to be quite a few broken links on the site. Don't worry. I'm having to update every page in the HQ and it's taking quite a while. I'll have updates on here from time to time as to when we're at 100 percent. Also, a special thanks to the following people who without their help and patience, the new site couldn't be possible: Chad (Ghostbusters.net), AJ (Ectoman), Ron (Jesusfreak), Neil (TheShredder1), and any other of you NetSolo Worshipers (No Studying?) out there that I've failed to mention. So kick back and enjoy the new site (and the updates multiple times daily with news! Boo yah!) Something BIG on the Horizon? Chad over at Ghostbusters.net posted an article based on his speculation surrounding the current "Red Ketchup" affair over on the message boards. I'll let the article on GBN speak for itself but if you don't want to click over quite yet all signs on this magic 8 ball are pointing to a brand spanking new Ghostbusters comic on the horizon. More to come as it develops. |
