Ghostbusters HQ
has evolved quite a bit as a website. Originally starting out as a puny 1MB
FTP site on members.aol.com the HQ was one of the first handful of websites
to hit the 'net. As soon as we hit the HTML circuit the logo was comprised
of a cropped version of the Universal Studios Florida GB logo and a whole
bunch of mashed together text. Needless to say the site has come a long way
since then. Moving from members.aol.com to bon.net GBHQ began to build a fanbase.
But the demise of bon.net left Ghostbusters HQ in a bit of a spot, without
a server and without any way of telling fans that the site had lost its provider,
GBHQ quietly moved over to a newly created crosswinds.net server which provided
its users with 5MB of webspace. GBHQ and its strong multimedia content quickly
outgrew the crosswinds server and again we were forced to move to interspeed.net.
On interspeed GBHQ regained the fanbase that it once had but again, outgrew
the bandwidth required for such an extensive website. Enter Neil Vitale who
opened the door to GBHQ to move to hispeed.com. GBHQ flourished on hispeed.com
and soon moved to Neil Vitale's own web server at enterpriseservers.com (which
was the birth of www.ghostbustershq.com).
To our estimation,
Ghostbusters HQ has been redesigned six times. Including the highly touted
GB2000 redesign which was the start of a whole new generation of GBHQ and
Ghostheads all around the 'net.
We thought that
it would be fun to show you how the Ghostbusters HQ logo has evolved over
time, many of the logos we still love. Here in this retrospective you can
also visit the GB2000 webpage design, a design which I was quite proud of
but had to be redesigned since it was not compatible with some browsers and
took a very long time to load. Click
here to see a flashback to that design.
But without further
ado here are the Ghostbusters logos over the years. We've come a long way,
thanks for all your support, Ghostheads! - Troy
